Back in June 2012, Sony filed a patent for a product called Flat Joystick Controller. The patent was published yesterday on the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) site and shows what appears to be an upgraded PS Move controller featuring touch pads.

Theoretically, the inclusion of touch pads would help players to keep their thumbs in the right position on the motion controller.

If this upgraded PlayStation Move controller ever sees the light of day, is expected to be released for PlayStation 4.
